Hydroxyl-free solvents for polyurethane

Hydroxyl-free solvents for polyurethane:
ASTROBIO™ NV, sample on request.

ASTROBIO™ NV grades are sustainable, bio-based solvent blends that are completely hydroxyl free, so they are compatible with systems containing reactive -NCO groups. They are used to formulate urethane coatings, adhesives, paints and inks, and bio-based paint strippers, PU cleaners and industrial detergents. The family has six grades: NV, NV3, NV5, NV9, NV11 and NV13.

6 grades

The NV family has six grades with the same functionality and a different evaporation rate: NV, NV3, NV5, NV9, NV11 and NV13.

Safer

ASTROBIO™ NV is safer than other urethane grade solvents due to its hazard statements, GHS and CLP classification.

2006

Astrobio has been developing bio-based solvents in Italy since 2006.

ASTROBIO™

NV grades

Hydroxyl free, for -NCO systems

ASTROBIO™ NV, NV3, NV5, NV9, NV11 and NV13 are hydroxyl-free specialties for polyurethane (PU) coating formulation and for cleaning. They have the same functionality and a different evaporation rate (RER). No single solvent is replaced: you choose the grade that suits your process.

Why choose a hydroxyl-free solvent for polyurethane.

Compatible with

-NCO

Systems containing reactive -NCO groups, such as urethane coatings.

Chemistry

Completely hydroxyl free

ASTROBIO™ NV grades are completely hydroxyl free specialties, so they are compatible with systems containing reactive -NCO groups. Solvents that carry hydroxyl groups can react with -NCO groups, which is why urethane systems call for hydroxyl-free solvents.

Origin

Bio-based, from renewable raw materials

ASTROBIO™ NV is a sustainable, bio-based solvent blend of organic acid esters, made from renewable raw materials.

Safer

A safer choice among urethane grade solvents

ASTROBIO™ NV is safer than other urethane grade solvents due to its hazard statements, GHS and CLP classification. Check your specific case against the safety data sheet.

A summary for orientation, not legal advice: always check the current texts and your safety data sheets.
